Day 1: Skype a Missed Loved One

I let John and Scarlett snuggle in bed this morning while Emmett and I sneaked off to church.  We arrived home to two happy faces still in pajamas and ready to pick today's resolution!  "Slution Time," Scarlett cheered.

We will normally draw a paper the night before for the following day so we can prepare anything needed if the resolution calls for it.  But we decided to start this journey on January 1, 2012 and not the day before.  Well, God was looking down as Scarlett drew our first resolution.

"Skype with a missed loved one" was drawn.  I could have cried, as this has been an emotional week for my family.  My aunt took her life on December 26, 2011 and our family is still in pieces over her death.  She had suffered a long battle with depression and seeked a freedom the earth could no longer provide.  We will never truly understand her pain, but in her death, our eyes have been opened to appreciate every moment of happiness we are granted.  I have hugged my children closer than ever this week.  Her ashes are traveling via her brother (The Great Uncle Bud) to the top of a mountain so she can soar with the butterflies and finally have her freedom.

So, I would like to take this chance to say that we miss you Aunt Cyndi.  We may not be able to skype with you, but we will be seeing you in our dreams and know you are with us always.

I did not mean for my blog to start off on a sad note.  It was the luck of the draw - literally.  But on to accomplish today's resolution...  Who to skype?  We may be overly ambitious and skype a few missed loved ones throughout the day!

It is a great start to this journey.  We begin on day 1 with talking to family, which is the most important thing in life.

I am confident in saying that we will create many many happy memories from this year's resolution journey!
