Scarlett selected one book, and I pulled out three previously read books from our bookcase to donate today. We bundled up and set out in the 35 degree cold this morning to make it to the library for story time. Our local library system puts on story times for different age groups throughout the week. I must say that Scarlett knows the songs by heart at this point. She gets excited as we pull into the library parking lot. She gets to pick out a few books and on occasion, a DVD to borrow and bring home. She even has her own library card.
Scarlett socialized, sang, "read," and played until lunch time. Before leaving the library we handed over our donation to complete today's resolution. I had never donated books to a library before; honestly, I did not even know that you could do that. I don't know how I didn't know that, but I'm glad I know now! Happy reading to whoever gets our old books!
After using a few coupons at the grocery store (Yay! for $0.09 packs of gum), our fridge is stocked and the menu is set for the rest of the week. Scarlett had a wonderful afternoon with her new sensory tub - full of dried beans and uncooked pasta noodles. We buried toy animals, "fed" baby dolls, measures, scooped, and poured. And we laughed. There's nothing better than laughing with a two year old.
Twice a week, John and I meet at the gym for "date night." It's free child-watch for an hour while we get sweaty together. Haha. Tonight was "date night" and I was STOOD UP! No joke. My own husband stood me up at the gym. I will say that he called; so at least that's something. He was caught up at work and couldn't get out in time to meet me. Excuses. Excuses. Hehehe. I did get a great 5K on the treadmill in, and followed it up with a full body workout. It was a nice break from the chaos of the day.
Tomorrow's resolution:
To take turns reading a book out loud to Scarlett.
This one may not take place until bedtime tomorrow, so I may be back to update with the next day's resolution before tomorrow's is even complete. We shall see! Good night to all.
