Cheers to Emmett!

My baby boy is 6 months old today.  I feel as though I just had him...  I remember laboring (and ROCKING it!) throughout the early morning hours while everyone else slept, and calling the midwives to the house.  I remember getting in the birth tub and realizing I was about to meet the newest addition to our family.  I remember pushing a baby out and holding it to my chest for minutes before looking to see if we had a son or daughter.  I remember crying with John and Scarlett when we announced that we had a son: Emmett William.  It was a beautiful birth and such a peaceful entrance into the world.

Emmett has this light inside of him. He just radiates this "all-knowing" love of life that makes you smile from the inside out.  There's just something about him that is special.  I am so blessed to call him mine :)

I cannot believe that it has been 6 months since he has blessed us with his presence.  I feel as though nothing and everything has changed. I cannot wait to add another baby to our family (John says only one more, so I may have to wait a bit!)... but I can wait at the same time.  I want to give Emmett every special little mommy moment that I can before he is a middle child.  (That and I didn't even see my cycle again for 13-14 months post-partum after Scarlett's birth - what can I say? we are an extended nursing and co-sleeping family)

Emmett had his first food yesterday.  An orange of all things. We practice "Baby-Led Feeding" where there is no puree, no mushed up, no baby food type thing.  Emmett grabbed Scarlett's orange yesterday with determination... and boy did he get a mouth full!  He also grabbed a piece of raw asparagus (but just licked it) and some avocado.  I'm pretty sure he likes food.  :)

Today's Resolution:  Try a new wine....  so CHEERS to Emmett's 1/2 a year birthday!  We are broke, so it was a cheap new bottle, but I won't complain. :)

We enjoyed a delicious picnic at the park yesterday afternoon! One of my best friends played "photographer" with my camera because, as she says I'm never in any of the pictures!  So, thank you Valerie for taking pictures of me with my babies!

Tomorrow's Resolution:  Start a new sewing project.
