I am learning as I go. I am growing as I learn. I am becoming who I always wanted to be. I am doing this day by day, week by week, and year by year with the end result of (hopefully) nothing but happiness.
I have decided that instead of one general resolution for the new year, I am creating a jar of "resolutions" for my family. We will pull a new one each evening for the following day. The jar's purpose is to make us slow down, appreciate what we have together, provide a sense of spontaneity, and perhaps bring us even closer as a family. Feel free to follow us on this "Resolution Journey" and partake in any or all of the resolutions as we go!
2012 holds many amazing events for us: My husband, John, turns the big 3-0 in January. Our son, Emmett, turns one in August. Our daughter, Scarlett, turns three in August. My husband and I (Elizabeth) celebrate our five year wedding anniversary in November; and I turn the big 3-0 in December. I am hoping that it will be a year full of laughter and love, one worth celebrating each of the 365 days it holds.
I am open for new "resolution" ideas to add to the jar throughout the year. Preferably though, nothing of great expense (free is always best!), or of great danger (we do have little ones). I'm sure most of the resolutions will be small gestures such as "hold hands today," "sleep in and make pancakes," "enjoy a new wine," or "take a family walk/run before dinner." However, "no meat day," "no TV all day," and "send a stamped letter to someone you love" are also some ideas being thrown into the jar. These things may not seem huge, but I am hoping that by enforcing a resolution a day, we will grow together. There may be some bumps along the way, but I am determined to get 365 resolutions (or more) completed in 2012. Here goes nothing!
Cheers to 2012!
